Mr. Nghia Bui from DPMM received the NexGen award to attend the 2023 AGU Fall meeting

Mr. Nghia Bui, a Ph.D. candidate in the Disaster Preparedness, Mitigation, and Management program, has been honored with the NexGen Young Scientists Program (NexGen) award. This prestigious award grants him the opportunity to attend the American Geophysical Union (AGU) 2023 Fall Meeting, scheduled from December 11-15 in San Francisco, California.

The NexGen Young Scientists Program is a collaboration between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of the Interior. Its primary

objective is to empower early-career professionals and scientists in the Lower Mekong Basin. This empowerment is achieved through increased engagement with science-policy, the establishment of working relationships among future leaders, and the promotion of responsible and sustainable stewardship of the Mekong River Basin.
Before his participation in the AGU 2023 Fall Meeting, Mr. Nghia Bui will also have the valuable opportunity to visit Washington D.C. During this time, he will spend approximately 1.5 weeks at an academic or government institution. Here, he will have the chance to learn from experts and adequately prepare for his involvement in AGU. This unique experience will enable him to share his expertise, gain insights from others, and establish collaborative relationships throughout the Lower Mekong Region and beyond. Together, these efforts will contribute to the responsible stewardship of the Mekong River Basin and its precious natural resources.
